There's a show that runs on one of Canada's national TV stations titled "Scariest Places on Earth". Some of the material is kind of hokey, but a lot of the segments they do are very fascinating and and based in reality.
Last night, I saw a re-run that featured a "New England mental hospital too scary for us to mention its name". While I'm fairly certain it is Danvers simply from the architecture and having seen Session9, I'm wondering about the amount truth behind the Ann Marie Davey story. The segment mentioned the murder of Ann Marie Davey and an un-named website that organizes expeditions into abandoned ruins. This website, which I believe to be "www.darkpassage.com" feature a reprint of an AP article dated August 12, 1980 re: Ann Marie Davey. Now the show had a shot of the actual article, but it was too brief to note any other headlines or a paper name/location.
How much truth is there behind this story? The name of the hospital is blanked out, and Sen. Jack H. Backman and Bridgewater Hospital are both real, but other than the Dark Passage site, nobody ever mentions this incident, and the names Melvin Wilson and Ann Marie Davey turn up nothing.
Simply put, to ease my girlfriend's curiosity and my own, is this story B.S.?
Brett.
